Japanese Coturnix Quail

Description

The Japanese Coturnix Quail, also known as the Wild Type or Pharaoh Coturnix, is the classic domesticated Coturnix quail.

These attractive little birds have beautifully patterned brown, cream and buff plumage, giving them the traditional appearance most people associate with quail.

Coturnix are remarkably quick to mature, with females capable of beginning to lay from around 6 to 8 weeks of age under suitable conditions. Once established, they can be prolific layers of attractive cream coloured eggs covered with distinctive dark brown speckles.

Japanese Coturnix are an excellent choice for anyone looking to start keeping quail, as well as experienced keepers wanting traditional Wild Type genetics within their breeding flock.
