Deposits and Payments
Deposits
Deposits are required to reserve livestock, products, or boarding spaces.
- All deposits are non-refundable
- Deposits are taken on the basis of customer commitment
- Deposits compensate for:
- Removal of availability to other customers
- Loss of potential sales
- Time and administrative costs
By paying a deposit, you agree that:
- The item or booking is reserved exclusively for you
- The deposit will not be returned if you cancel or fail to proceed
Payment
- Full payment must be made before or at collection, or at drop-off for boarding
- We reserve the right to cancel any order where payment is not completed
Livestock Sales Terms
Health and Condition
All livestock is checked to ensure it is healthy at the point of sale.
Customers must inspect animals at collection and raise any concerns immediately.
No Returns (Biosecurity Policy)
Due to strict biosecurity requirements, no livestock can be returned once it has left our premises.
Animals may be exposed to disease after leaving, and returning them could pose a serious risk to our flock.
No Refunds After Collection
Once livestock leaves our care:
- We cannot control handling, environment, or care
- No refunds or exchanges are offered
Breed, Age and Description
We aim to describe livestock accurately. However:
- Breed characteristics may vary
- Point of lay is an estimate and not guaranteed
- Sexing of young birds cannot always be guaranteed
Cockerels
Customers purchasing cockerels accept that:
- Behaviour and temperament cannot be guaranteed
- Noise levels vary
- It is the buyer’s responsibility to check local restrictions
Hatching Eggs
Hatching eggs are sold with:
- No guarantee of fertility or hatch rates
Results depend on incubation conditions, handling, and equipment.
No refunds will be provided for unsuccessful hatching.
Collection of Livestock
- Livestock must be collected at the agreed time
- Failure to collect may result in:
- Loss of deposit
- Animals being made available for sale again
Goods (Feed and Equipment)
- All goods must be checked at collection
- Returns are only accepted for unused items in original condition
- Any issues must be reported promptly
Chicken Boarding Terms
Booking and Payment
- A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to secure a booking
- The remaining balance must be paid in full upon drop-off
No refunds will be issued for cancellation or early collection.
Pricing
Boarding prices are based on the number of hens per flock per night:
1–3 hens – £6 per night
4 hens – £7 per night
5–6 hens – £9 per night
7–8 hens – £11 per night
A minimum charge of £30 per house per booking applies.
Prices include feed, water, bedding, housing, and mite treatment if required.
Accommodation and Care
We provide:
- Private housing for each flock
- Secure, predator-proof coops and runs
- Cleaned and sanitised housing between stays
- Fresh bedding
- Daily feeding and fresh water
- Daily health checks
- Egg collection and storage
Health Requirements
All hens must:
- Arrive in good health
- Show no signs of illness or parasites
We reserve the right to refuse entry to any bird that appears unwell.
No cockerels are accepted.
Biosecurity
Strict biosecurity procedures are followed:
- No mixing of flocks
- Cleaning and disinfecting between stays
Feeding
- Birds are fed high-quality layers pellets
- Fresh water is provided at all times
Owners may provide their own feed for specific dietary requirements.
Illness and Veterinary Treatment
If a bird becomes unwell:
- We will attempt to contact the owner
- Veterinary treatment may be arranged if required
All veterinary costs are the responsibility of the owner.
Liability
While every care is taken:
- Birds are boarded at the owner’s risk
- We accept no liability for illness, injury, or death unless caused by proven negligence
Customers visiting the premises do so at their own risk.
Collection and Late Collection
- Birds must be collected on the agreed date
- Late collections may incur additional charges
Failure to Collect
If birds are not collected and no contact is made:
- After 7 days, ownership transfers to Yateley Smallholding
- Birds may be rehomed or retained
Right to Refuse Sale
We reserve the right to refuse the sale of livestock where we believe:
- The buyer is not suitably prepared
- The environment may not be appropriate
- The welfare of the animals could be compromised
Buyer Responsibility
It is the responsibility of the buyer to ensure they have:
- Suitable housing
- Adequate knowledge of poultry care
- Appropriate facilities
By purchasing livestock, you confirm you are prepared to meet the needs of the animals.
Transport and Responsibility After Collection
Once livestock has been collected, responsibility for:
- Transport
- Handling
- Ongoing care
Transfers fully to the buyer.
Mortality and Post-Sale Responsibility
We cannot accept responsibility for:
- Illness
- Injury
- Loss or mortality
Once animals have left our care.
Poultry Feeding and Legal Compliance
Customers are responsible for complying with UK poultry feeding laws.
It is illegal to feed poultry catering waste, including:
- Kitchen scraps
- Plate leftovers
- Food from domestic kitchens
- Food that has been in contact with meat or fish
We accept no responsibility for feeding practices once livestock leaves our care.
Gift Cards
Gift cards may be offered for use against products or services.
- Gift cards are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash
- They must be used within any stated validity period
- Lost or stolen cards cannot be replaced
We reserve the right to amend or withdraw gift card terms at any time.
Loyalty Scheme
We may operate a loyalty scheme.
- 1 point is awarded for every £10 spent
- Each point has a value of £0.25
Points:
- Have no cash value
- Cannot be exchanged for cash
- May be subject to expiry
We reserve the right to:
- Change the value of points
- Amend how points are earned or redeemed
- Withdraw the scheme at any time
Promotions and Competitions
From time to time, we may run promotions or prize draws.
These may involve:
- Following social media pages
- Liking or sharing posts
- Engaging with content
We reserve the right to:
- Modify or cancel promotions
- Refuse entries that do not meet requirements
Promotions are not sponsored, endorsed, or administered by social media platforms.
Welfare Statement
We are committed to responsible poultry keeping and high welfare standards.
All decisions made by Yateley Smallholding are with the welfare of the animals in mind. We encourage all customers to take the same approach and ensure that birds are kept in appropriate conditions with proper care.
Limitation of Liability
We are not liable for:
- Losses arising from misuse of information
- Improper care of livestock after sale
- Indirect or consequential losses
Intellectual Property
All content, images, and branding remain the property of Yateley Smallholding unless otherwise stated.
Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
